It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and we’re not just talking about the holidays. The end of the year is often a time for reflection and that’s especially true if you use OpenTable. We just sent out our Year of Dining 2018 review that recaps your dining history and the trends that you — yes, you! — contributed to over the last 12 months.
For me, 2018 was another year of upholding my status as a regular at my beloved Bâtard, the Michelin-starred modern European restaurant in Manhattan’s Tribeca from managing partner John Winterman and chef Markus Glocker. However, I also discovered some new favorite experiences, like San Francisco’s storied Zuni Cafe (Believe the hype; that roast chicken with bread salad is EVERYTHING!), the sublime French onion soup at Boucherie in the West Village that haunts my foodie dreams, the divine sushi at Matsuhisa in Aspen, and the comforting crab and artichoke dip at Simon & Seafort’s in Anchorage — and hundreds of other bites in between.
It was a year of work lunches (Thanks for always being there, ABC Kitchen!) and dinners (The Publican‘s pimento cheese, FTW.), family get-togethers (often over my dad’s favorite Italian fare at Mannino’s), friends’ nights out feasting on seasonal salads at La Pecora Bianca, over-the-top brunches (starring Cosme‘s perfect Michelada on more than one occasion), and cozy date nights fueled by ice-cold martinis at Almond.
