NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2019 Menu Preview

Get ready for the scurrying about of eager gastronomes on the hunt for scrumptious specials during NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2019. The semiannual NYC & Company program takes place July 22-August 16 and encourages diners to step out during the specially priced event – with two-course lunch and brunch menus at $26 and three-course dinners at $42. Be on the lookout for additional add-on options, like a savory or sweet third course and signature items at special prices. For foodies, this is a great time to revisit old favorites and find some new ones. Here are more than two dozen places to appease wallets and satisfy appetites – and there are more than 100 participating in total. The Morgan Library & Museum
At Murray Hill’s literary answer to the typical dining experience, The Morgan Library & Museum welcomes fans of the written art form Tuesday through Friday of Restaurant Week. First-course choices include seared ahi tuna Niçoise salad; chilled corn and almond soup with peekytoe crab and chives; and watermelon, cucumber, and jicama salad with kale, feta, and honey-lime vinaigrette. Next, diners have a choice of entrees including pan-roasted Branzino with red peppers, tomato, capers, and spring onion; braised Berkshire pork belly with coconut-ginger purèe, bok choy, and scallions; and pesto cream fettuccine with zucchini and toasted pistachios. Bar Boulud
The Lincoln Center staple is offering several dishes for restaurant week. During lunch, guests can enjoy chilled corn soup with cilantro oil and sourdough croutons; a coq au vin sandwich with braised, fried, glazed chicken leg on a potato bun with frisée and crispy shallot; and a peach caramel Bavarois with vanilla Chantilly and almond biscuit. For dinner, menu items include summer salad with arugula, tomato, parmesan, yellow squash, lemon;  pork loin and belly with quinoa, squash, and pickled pearl onion gremolata; and, for dessert, a chocolate pavé with dark chocolate creméux, crème fraîche ganache, and exotique sorbet. Antica Pesa
This Williamsburg gem is the sister eatery of the Michelin-starred restaurant in Rome. Highlights include beef tartare seasoned with mustard, salt, and pepper, topped with a fried egg and a salty crumble; and penne pomodoro prepared with homemade pasta, San Marzano tomato sauce, and a touch of cream topped with mozzarella DOP cheese and fresh basil. VANDAL
Downtown on the Bowery, Vandal is bringing its own twist to restaurant week dishes in homage to cuisine from New York to Vietnam to Barcelona. db Bistro Moderne
There’s not a burger fanatic alive who doesn’t crave Daniel Boulud’s signature db Bistro Moderne foie gras burger. But there’s a lot more to love during restaurant week with baby gem salad with grapefruit, pickled red onions, herb and anchovy dressing, and croutons; steak frites with shallot jus and pommes frites; and financier de Mais for dessert, prepared with blueberry compote, lime, and caramel corn ice cream. For dinner, guests can partake of lobster salad with Carolina shrimp, vegetable crudité, iceberg lettuce and aioli; roasted duck breast with cherries, turnips, fregola, and duck jus; and butterscotch pot de crème with chocolate shortbread and vanilla Chantilly. Scarpetta
Diners in NoMad know Scarpetta is always a delicious place to enjoy Restaurant Week. This year, they can expect a few new preparations on the special menu. Dishes include roasted beet salad with Castelrosso, pistachio, and beet vinaigrette; polenta with fricassée of truffled mushroom; yellowtail with pickled red onion; and, spaghetti with tomato and basil. Lunch entrees also include branzino with heirloom tomato and charred corn vinaigrette, along with roasted chicken and biscotti for dessert. During dinner, diners will also have a choice of cauliflower Romanesco and branzino with a slightly different preparation of snap peas, sunchoke, spring onion, and tarragon; roasted chicken; spaghetti; and one of three desserts — coconut wanna cotta, olive oil cake, or Valrhona chocolate cake. Rahi
Just the thought of Indian food makes the taste buds leap front and center. At Rahi on Greenwich, the menu doesn’t disappoint. Felidia
There are many reasons why this 58th Street Italian eatery has lasted almost 40 years, but chief among them is the annual debut of chef Fortunato Nicotra’s summer menus. This year, diners are excited to try his salmon affumicato with house-smoked salmon pastrami, egg, and potato salad, along with his creative interpretation of Tiramisu with whipped mascarpone, Nutella, and Pavesini cookie. DaDong
The Bryant Park hotspot DaDong from chef Dong Zhenxiang presents several mouthwatering Chinese dishes. They include the dramatic stir-fried duck treasures served on a crisp potato nest with pine puts; Kung Pao chicken; and beef noodle soup with summer vegetables. For the dinner specials, you’ll find sweet and sour pork ribs sprinkled with powdered sugar; cold avocado noodles with spicy Sichuan sauce; and an almond tofu dessert with summer fruits. Estiatorio Milos Midtown + Estiatorio Milos Hudson Yards
Plan to make two stops for Greek food this week, once in Midtown Manhattan and the other at the dining and shopping mecca that is Hudson Yards. Both locations of Estiatorio Milos are celebrating with a choice of Greek meze plate with tzatziki, taramosalata, htipiti, warm pita, and marinated raw vegetables or tomato salad with ripened tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, feta, extra virgin olive oil, and sea salt. The second course includes Icelandic Arctic char grilled with Piazzi-style beans or roasted organic chicken breast with a warm salad of eggplant, peppers, onions, mint yogurt, and herbs. Junoon
Michelin-starred restaurants are in high demand during restaurant week, including the Indian 24th Street stand-out, Junoon. Dishes on this year’s special menu include watermelon chaat with watermelon, cantaloupe, goat cheese, black salt, and watermelon rind achaar; hara kofta with mustard greens, paneer dumpling, preserved lemon relish, and green chili; and, Ma’s rice pudding with candied almonds, puffed rice, and caramelized banana. Le Coq Rico
The Flatiron District is the place to find a contemporary French bistro menu with Le Coq Rico’s variations on classic French dishes. In addition to the standard restaurant week specials of $26 for a two-course lunch and $42 dinners, Le Coq Rico presents an additional third course during lunch for $38, featuring deviled eggs with octopus; cabbage and cumin salad; duck rillettes with pickled vegetables; and corn veloute with popcorn garnish. Next, diners can choose between a poultry burger with pineapple chutney on a homemade bun, 120-day aged Brune landaise quarter with seasonal vegetable salad; and ratatouille with poached eggs and fresh herbs. Desserts include Le Coq Rico’s L’ile Flottante with red praline and crème anglaise, and ice cream and sorbet choices. Within the luxe W. New York in Union Square, Irving offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu — a treat for seed-to-table diners who patronize the Union Square Greenmarket nearby. Between the Brooklyn Bridge, Fulton Street, and the World Trade Center, Augustine in The Beekman Hotel is the place to be during Restaurant Week for Manhattan history buffs. This hotel’s theatrical and literary past dates back to 1761 — long before it became a Thompson Hotel in 2016. Chef Markus Glocker has prepared a dedicated lunch menu for the occasion. The Moxy Chelsea in the Floral District is home to Feroce Ristorante, new on the scene and an homage to vintage Italy down to the hand-painted murals on the walls. The two-course lunch features the Viaggo ai Castelli selection of dry-cured market Italian meats and cheese served with Cerginola olives and prosciutto di Parma aged 24-months with buffalo mozzarella, 40-year aged balsamic, and basil emulsion.
