OpenTable Reviews Reveal #DinersChoice Top 100 Steakhouses in America — with Slideshow

In a nod to the long and rich history of the American steakhouse, we are pleased to honor the inaugural 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Steakhouses in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Including well-established meat meccas and newer steak restaurants, the complete list of award winners spans 32 states and Washington, D.C., and includes Bones in Atlanta, Killen’s Steakhouse in Pearland, Texas, and Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Las Vegas. Texas, the top beef producer in the nation, has the greatest number of winners with 15, followed by Ohio with seven winners. California, Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina each boast six winning restaurants, while Georgia has five, and Arizona and Illinois have four apiece. Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin each count three honorees. Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington, respectively, have two award winners. Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia are also represented.

OpenTable Reviews Reveal #DinersChoice Top 100 Wine Lists in America — with Slideshow

As we look forward to toasting the holidays in the coming months,we are pleased to honor the 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Wine Lists in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Highlighting restaurants with deep-yet-accessible wine lists that include the affordable and the extravagant, the complete list of award winners spans 28 states and includes, Acquerello in San Francisco, Marche Bacchus in Las Vegas, and Vino Vino in Austin. While California, home to more than a thousand vineyards, has the greatest number of winners with 16, the list indicates that wine appreciation isn’t limited to the country’s wine-producing regions, with Ohio boasting 12 winners, followed by Illinois with nine, and Maryland with eight. Texas has six honorees, while Missouri, New York, and Virginia all have five; Michigan and Washington each have four. States with three winning restaurants apiece include Florida and Wisconsin. Colorado, Nebraska, North Carolina, and South Carolina, respectively, have two award winners. Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee are also represented.

The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Wine Lists in America are generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between October 1, 2013, and September 30, 2014. All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “notable wine list” was selected as a special feature. The complete list may also be viewed at http://www.opentable.com/m/best-wine-list-restaurants-in-america/.

Best BBQIn a nod to our nation’s longstanding love affair with barbecuing, we are pleased to honor the 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 30 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for approximately 19,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Showcasing regional styles and techniques, including dry rubs and wet brines, the winning eateries use a balance of nuanced spices and smoke to bring forth complex flavors in their barbecue dishes. The complete list includes notable restaurants in 12 states and Washington, D.C., such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Harlem, Lambert’s Downtown BBQ in Austin, and Wexler’s in San Francisco. California has six award winners, followed by Illinois and New York with five each, Texas with four, and Ohio with two. OpenTable Restaurant Reviews Reveal Top 100 Best American Fare Restaurants + Slideshow

Just in time for the holiday dining season, we are pleased to celebrate the 2013 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 American Fare Restaurants in the United States. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for approximately 19,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

With a strong showing from restaurants in America’s heartland, the winners are scattered throughout 29 states and Washington, D.C., and include Bluestem in Kansas City, Lola-A Michael Symon Restaurant in Cleveland, and Senza in Chicago. Ohio and Texas take top honors with eight winners apiece, followed by South Carolina with seven.  California, Colorado, New Jersey, and New York each boast six winning restaurants. Maryland and Pennsylvania both claim five winners apiece, while Missouri, North Carolina, and Virginia each have four honorees. Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, and Kentucky all have three winning eateries; and Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah have two. Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington, D.C. are also represented.
