Celebrate Summer: The 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America 2016 #OpenTable100

In honor of spring and to kick off summer travel season, we are thrilled to reveal the 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America 2016. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Featuring restaurants nestled on white sand beaches and under majestic desert skies to those in chic urban areas, the complete list features winning restaurants in 19 states and Washington, D.C., and includes Hau Tree Lanai in Honolulu, Farm & Table in Albuquerque, and Perch LA in Los Angeles. The scenic state of California claims almost half the number of winning restaurants with 44, followed by Florida with 13, Hawaii with 12, and Arizona with eight. North Carolina and South Carolina boast three honorees apiece. Maryland, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania have two each. Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. are also represented. Menus showcasing American cuisine are most popular; however, many highlight regional fare, including Californian, Hawaiian, and Mexican, and seafood is a common theme at coastal restaurants. Other cuisines strongly represented include French and Italian.

The 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America list is generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners between May 1, 2015, and April 30, 2016. All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “great for outdoor dining” was selected as a special feature.

Based on this methodology, the following restaurants, listed in alphabetical order, comprise the 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America 2016 according to OpenTable diners.

2015 Top 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America — Plus the 10 Most Mouthwatering Brunch Dishes

Just in time to find the perfect place to celebrate Mother’s Day, we’re pleased to announce the 2015 Top 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Despite the term “brunch” being coined by an English writer, brunch is very much an American institution, thus it isn’t surprising that American fare dominates the winning menus. Restaurants showcasing French, fusion, Creole, Irish, and southern cuisines, among others, are present, as well. Check out 10 of the most delicious brunch dishes from this year’s honorees below.

 

From restaurants in popular hotels to eateries serving playful spins on brunch staples, the complete list features winning restaurants in 30 states and Washington, D.C., and includes Garden Court in San Francisco, Rosebud in Atlanta, and Sarabeth’s TriBeCa in New York. New York claims the greatest number of winning restaurants with 15, followed by California with 14 and Florida with eight. Washington State has seven winning restaurants, while Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., have five apiece. Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas have four. Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, and Oklahoma all have three winners, and Louisiana, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin have two each. Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah are also represented.

OpenTable Reviews Reveal Top 100 Hot Spots in America

After another long winter, we’re excited to unveil the 2015 Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

New restaurants made a strong showing in this year’s awards, including 42 that opened in 2014 and one as recently as 2015. The complete list features award-winners in 25 states and Washington, D.C., and includes Gato in New York, RPM Steak in Chicago, and Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis. California boasts the greatest number of winning restaurants with 22, followed by Florida and New York with 13 each. Illinois and Texas have 11 and seven, respectively. Nevada has five winning restaurants, and Tennessee and Georgia have four. Louisiana, Minnesota, and South Carolina claim two winners apiece. Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, MissouriNebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. are represented as well.

Global fare menus are fashionable, with standout restaurants serving Asian, Basque, Korean, Latin, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Polynesian dishes, among others. American cuisine, sushi, and steak are also popular.

The Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants in America are generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between March 1, 2014, and February 28, 2015. All restaurants with a minimum number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then sorted according to a score calculated from each restaurant’s average rating in the “hot spot” category along with a minimum “overall” rating.

In a nod to the long and rich history of the American steakhouse, we are pleased to honor the inaugural 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Steakhouses in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Including well-established meat meccas and newer steak restaurants, the complete list of award winners spans 32 states and Washington, D.C., and includes Bones in Atlanta, Killen’s Steakhouse in Pearland, Texas, and Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Las Vegas. Texas, the top beef producer in the nation, has the greatest number of winners with 15, followed by Ohio with seven winners. California, Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina each boast six winning restaurants, while Georgia has five, and Arizona and Illinois have four apiece. Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin each count three honorees. Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington, respectively, have two award winners. Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia are also represented.
