OpenTable Restaurant Reviews Reveal #DinersChoice Top 100 Neighborhood Gems in America

gemsIn celebration of the local restaurants diners return to time and again, we are pleased to honor the 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Best Neighborhood Gem Restaurants in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 19,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Highlighting eateries that contribute to the character of their neighborhoods, the complete list includes award winners in more than half the states in the nation and Washington, D.C., including Lucia’s Restaurant and Wine Bar in Minneapolis, Red Gravy in Brooklyn, and The Yellow Porch in Nashville. California has 24 winning restaurants sprinkled throughout the state, followed by New York with 10, and New Jersey and Pennsylvania with six each. Both Florida and Georgia have five honorees, while Massachusetts and Texas each boast four. Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Tennessee, Washington, and Washington, D.C., all have three winners, and the states of  New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, and South Carolina have two apiece. Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Utah are also represented.

Although American fare is the most popular cuisine, Italian cuisine was a close second, with 25 restaurants specializing in dishes inspired by Lo Stivale, or The Boot. French fare is popular as well, as are seafood and southern menus.

The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Best Neighborhood Gem Restaurants in America are generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014. All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration.  Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “neighborhood gem” was selected as a special feature.

OpenTable Restaurant Reviews Reveal #DinersChoice Top 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America

As we look forward to an exciting season of summer travel, we are pleased to honor the 2014 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for approximately 19,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Showcasing restaurants situated in some of the most beautiful parts of the nation, the complete list includes award winners in 15 states, such as Geoffrey’s Restaurant in Malibu, Hau Tree Lanai in Honolulu, and Latitudes in Key West. California claims the greatest number of winning restaurants with 38, followed by Florida with 23, Hawaii with 16, and Arizona with seven. Texas has four honorees, while Nevada and New York boast two winners apiece. Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin are also represented. Restaurants serving American fare dominate the list, but several cuisines are also popular, including Hawaiian, Italian, Mexican, and seafood.

The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America are generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between May 1, 2013, and April 30, 2014. All restaurants with a minimum number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then sorted according to a score calculated from each restaurant’s average rating in the “outdoor dining” category along with a minimum “overall” rating.

corks-blogAs the grape harvest continues at the nation’s vineyards, we are pleased to announce the 2013 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Restaurants with the Most Notable Wine Lists. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Featuring talented sommeliers and lists to impress any oenophile, the winners span 27 states and include Canlis in Seattle, The French Laundry in Yountville, California, and Veritas in New York City. Home to the nation’s most renowned vineyards, California accounts for 21 honorees, followed by Maryland with eight winners and Florida, New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington with five apiece. Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas restaurants each boast four winning restaurants. Michigan and Nevada both claim three winners. Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, and Tennessee each have two winning restaurants. Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin restaurants are also represented. American fare restaurants had the greatest number of winners, followed by those serving Italian and tapas/small plate cuisines.

These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

With gifted chefs and inventive menus, the list of winners spans 26 states and includes Beast in Portland, Oregon, Moto in Chicago, and Vedge in Philadelphia. California accounts for 20 honorees, followed by Pennsylvania with 10 winners and Illinois with nine. Oregon and Washington restaurants each boast seven standouts apiece. Arizona, New York, and Texas all claim five winners. Colorado and Maine earned four spots, while both Minnesota and North Carolina have three. Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, and Missouri each have two winning restaurants. Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia restaurants are also represented.
