The much-lauded Barbara Lynch – James Beard Award-winner, the only female Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef in North America, and recipient of Food & Wine’s “Ten Best New Chefs in America” award, to name just a few – will be the honored guest on May 11 at 7 p.m. at Coohills for An Evening with Barbara Lynch.
Chef Tom Coohill has created a five-course menu with wine pairings that pays homage to Lynch, as many of the dishes have been chosen from her 2009 cookbook, Stir: Mixing It Up in the Italian Tradition. The meal will include Menton’s butter soup packed with razor clams, mussels, and Maine lobster (paired with the 2013 Joseph Drouhin Meursault Chardonnay), No. 9 Park’s pan-seared duck breast with duck confit (2012 Angela Estate Abbott Claim Pinot Noir), and a creamy vanilla bread pudding (2015 Ruffino Moscato d’Asti).
Each guest will receive a signed copy of Lynch’s new memoir, Out of Line: A Life of Playing with Fire (Atria Books, 2017), which recounts her rise from a hard-knocks South Boston childhood to culinary stardom and community activism.
Chef Lynch started her career as the executive chef of Boston’s acclaimed Galleria Italiana after learning about Italian food from local women firsthand by traveling around Italy. In 1998, Lynch opened a restaurant of her own, No. 9 Park, in Boston’s Beacon Hill. Now at the helm of Barbara Lynch Gruppo, the Top Chef judge oversees seven celebrated culinary concepts, including No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop, Stir, Drink, Sportello, and Menton, and employs a staff of more than 250.
Cost for five courses and five wine pairings is $165 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and includes a signed copy of the memoir. Seating is limited, and so reservations are required for this exciting evening; call 303-623-5700. Ample adjacent parking at Coohills costs $6 nightly after 5 p.m.
