Behold the fabled Luger Burger!

In honor of National Cheeseburger Day (Yep, that’s really a thing!), we’re thinking about burgers and, of course, planning to observe the day with a delicious, cheese-topped burger. To whet our appetites — and yours — we’ve rounded up some of the rave reviews restaurants have been receiving for their burgers, both classic and inventive, from OpenTable diners.

Ajax Tavern, Aspen, Colorado: “Everyone knows about the legendary Ajax Tavern burger and their truffle fries for good reason, but just about anything you order these days is going to be pretty delicious.”

* Bluegrass, Highland Park, Illinois: “Great blue cheese/bbq burger. If that doesn’t sound good, there are many other choices. Something for everyone.”

Bocado, Worcester, Massachusetts: “The fried goat cheese is delicious as is the shrimp burgers(out of this world).”

Cafeteria, Boston, Massachusetts: “Love Cafeteria! The best burgers. I had the Chipotle/ Blue Cheese BBQ burger. YUM!!”

Farm Stand, El Segundo, California: “Chicken burgerwith blue cheese was very good.”

The Gage, Chicago, Illinois: “The venison burger was messy, tasty, dressed with upscale cheese, mushroom, pickled onions, jalepenos, and a kick-ass homemade ketchup.”

* Jake’s Burgers, Brookfield, Wisconsin: “We had the Jake’s burger and the Wisconsin cheddar burger with fries and extra beer cheese sauce. Both burgers were excellent and the fries with that sauce. Yummy.”

Left Bank, Menlo Park, California: “I had the Left Bank burger with Emmenthal cheese and bacon and it was superb. It came on a potato pepper bun, which was wonderful and held together in spite of the juiciness of the meat.”

The Mark Dine & Tap, South Bend, Indiana: “Caprese burger was awesome!”

Northeast Social, Minneapolis, Minnesota: “Best cheeseburger around — premium beef, smoked white cheddar cheese, and bacon. Exceptionally good.”

Rosie McCann’s, San Jose, California: “I enjoyed the Texas Buffalo Burger! I will definitely order this again! Visually, it was so scrumptious-looking; a big burger topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions,cheddar cheese, applewood bacon and three huge onion rings! On the side was a crisp pickle spear and a pile of hot french fries!”

Sable Kitchen & Bar, Chicago, Illinois: “Beef/truffle/carmelized onion/cheese sliders — DO NOT GO TO SABLE WITHOUT ORDERING THESE!”

* Stage Left, New Brunswick, New Jersey: “The best burger in New Jersey that several of my friends ordered was huge and juicy and deserving of its title.”

Terzo Piano, Chicago, Illinois : “Goat cheese and lamb burger is a starstruck combination.”

*  Village Whiskey, Atlantic City, New Jersey: “For dinner, my friends both got the Village Whiskey burger and said it was the best they ever had. I got a a regular cheeseburger with bacon, truffled mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. Also, had the fries with short ribs and cheese on top and the duck fat fries.”
