The only time I used Open Table was to make a lunch reservation at Bottega in Yountville in October. I made this reservation one week in advance and requested a large table since the two men accompanying me were both tall and hefty.
When we arrived we were asked to wait for a short while while they prepared our table. In the meantime two parties that showed up without reservations were instantly seated.
We were then led to a table for two that had a third chair pushed in with a a third place setting, not even enough room for three water glasses. There were many other large tables that were vacant. It was 1:15pm so we did not come at the peak time. I explained that I had requested an adequate table and the one they took us to was far less than that. The host very coolly seated us at a larger table.
We have eaten there before with no reservations and had no problem with seating. We order multiple bottles of wine and several courses when we dine in Napa Valley, but I doubt we will do that again at Bottega or will we ever use Open Table again. I have unsubscribed.
