Going from Desk to Dinner: Tips from Stylist to the Stars Annie Ladino

Stylist Annie Ladino is a fashionista as well as a foodie.

As you know, OpenTable has teamed with Banana Republic and Bon Appétit to help you dine with style this summer. Banana Republic has created a fashion-forward Desk to Dinner collection, while the gourmets over at Bon Appétit have curated an exclusive list of the best summer dining spots in ChicagoHoustonMiamiNew York, and San Francisco.

Now that we know what to wear when we go from Desk to Dinner — and where to have dinner, we wanted some practical tips about making the transition from work to play. Thankfully, Annie Ladino and Shop It To Me answered our call. Annie Ladino is a New York-based fashion stylist, editor, and the Chief Stylist for Shop It To Me, a site that tells you where the clothing, shoes and accessories you want are on sale in your size. Like OpenTable, it’s a saviour for the time-starved.

As one of her industry’s top emerging talents, Annie never knows what each new work week will bring. One day she might be styling Brooklyn Decker for a major Red Carpet event, and the next she may be on location supervising wardrobe for a music video. (She just wrapped Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City’s video for the single “Good Time”). After a harried day of running from pillar to post (A stylist’s job is often more glamourous than it seems!), Ladino shares her tips for going from desk to dinner.

Annie poses with client Brooklyn Decker at a recent rooftop event.

It’s in the bag. “Keep an evening clutch with bold jewelry, such as a statement necklace or chandelier earrings, in your desk to throw on and freshen up your look.”

Switch it up. “Switch out your blazer for a sequined cardigan or a leather jacket to transition to evening.”

Stash and dash. “Keep a pair of fun heels underneath your desk for when you’re dashing out to a dressier venue.”

Belt it out. “Completely reinvent your look by adding a belt.  If your wearing a sheath dress during the day, cinch your waist for an evening ready effect.”

Prop Department: “No matter what job I’m on–I always have my prop kit to handle any last minute emergency. Create your own desk-to-dinner kit to keep in a drawer at work and stock it with a few must haves (toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, hair accessories, lipstick, pressed powder, blush, bronzer, eyelash curler, brow brush and a hairdryer if you have room).”

When she’s dining out after a long day, Annie likes to kick back with great friends and great food. In Los Angeles, favorite spots include The Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel, Cafe Gratitude, and Little Dom’s. When she’s in the Windy City, she frequents Piccolo Sogno. And, in Manhattan, she enjoys Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria.

And, don’t forget to join us tonight at 6PM at one of six Banana Republic stores around that nation for Desk to Dinner parties, featuring top chefs, small bites, and eye-catching fashions.
