Dining out with kids can be challenging for parents and children alike, but is it ever okay to allow young diners to use handheld video games at a restaurant? OpenTable wants to know!

Absolutely not! People need to learn how to communicate properly with their chidlren!
No way! Not only are games not allowed at the table but neither is cell phones because those can be just as entertaining for the kids. I try to not use mine as well. My thoughts are if you have something more important to be doing at that time than go do it. Can’t we just enjoy a meal with friends or family in a non electronic peace?
If your children are too young to sit through a meal without constant distraction, then they are too young to be in the restaurant. Parents need to “teach” their kids the art of sitting quietly. Start them off by taking them to a very casual place and then gradually introduce them to nicer places as they become capable. Nothing worse than paying to be at a fine restaurant and have the meal ruined by loud kids or their loud toys. (and adults, with or without kids, lay off the cell phones!)
